Sunev Wilson: A Voice of Soul, Strength, and Community

Sunev Wilson is a Wolverhampton-born vocalist whose voice resonates with emotion, grace, and authenticity. Known for her captivating stage presence and rich soulful tone, Sunev has become one of Wolverhampton s most cherished local talents a performer who uses her music to honour history, inspire connection, and celebrate community pride.

Honouring Heritage Through Song At the Black History & Heritage Launch on 31 October 2025, held at the Wolverhampton Art Gallery, Sunev Wilson delivered a deeply moving performance that became one of the highlights of the evening. The event marked the official unveiling of Wolverhampton s first Black Heritage Trail, under the theme Standing Firm in Power and Pride. It brought together community leaders, artists, educators, and residents to celebrate Black heritage, resilience, and achievement. Sunev s live performance of Writing s on the Wall originally written and performed by Sam Smith captivated the audience and filled the gallery with emotion.

Her powerful and heartfelt rendition served as both a tribute and a reflection of the evening s message: standing firm, proud, and united in identity and purpose.

A Tribute to Servicemen and Women Earlier in the year, Professor Martin Levermore invited Sunev Wilson and D.R. Davis to collaborate on a special track dedicated to servicemen and women, honouring their courage, sacrifice, and service. The pair chose to reinterpret Writing s on the Wall , creating a version infused with new emotional depth and resonance. To produce the song, the Black History & Heritage Wolverhampton team partnered with Beatsabar Music Project Studio, a creative powerhouse in the heart of Wolverhampton known for nurturing local talent.

The recording was led by John Paul (Director & Studio Manager), whose vision and musical guidance helped shape the performance, and Sovereign Tugz (Director & Sound Engineer), who handled the sound production with precision and artistry. Together, they created a stirring and soulful rendition of Writing s on the Wall , transforming the Bond theme into a timeless anthem of remembrance and gratitude. The track has now been released on YouTube, allowing audiences to experience this moving tribute to those who have served and continue to serve. (YouTube link to be inserted when available.)
