Our Story - The story of Black History & Heritage Wolverhampton began in 2015 as a grassroots response to the lack of visibility for African and Caribbean heritage in the city’s public history. Originally launched to support and promote Black History Month events, our website quickly grew into a vital platform for local storytelling, education, and cultural celebration. Rooted in the rich experiences of Wolverhampton’s Black communities, our work has expanded from promoting annual events to capturing untold stories, preserving oral histories, and highlighting contributions across generations. In 2025, we embarked on a new chapter with the Black Heritage Trail Wolverhampton—a community-led journey that charts the people, places, and milestones that have shaped Black life in the city. This trail honours the legacy of our elders, uplifts community voices, and reclaims public space with pride and purpose. Ours is a living story—one of resilience, creativity, resistance, and celebration. And we invite everyone to be part of it.
