Silver Self Portrait by US artist Glenn Ligon, made from coal dust; and Go West Young Man by Keith Piper, whose work was first shown at the Gallery in the early 1980s when he was a member of the Black Arts Movement

The exhibition is supported by primary and secondary schools workshops throughout the month of October. Workshops include a tour and talk around the exhibition, followed by a practical arts activity, Or schools can book a free, self-led visit, as entry to the exhibition is free.

These artworks were acquired with support from Heritage Lotter Fund’s Collecting Cultures, the V&A Purchase Grant Fund and the Friends of Wolverhampton Arts and Museums.
