MP Pat McFadden Visits Wolverhampton Wellbeing Hub for Black History Month & World Mental Health Day

The Wolverhampton Wellbeing Hub (WWBH) was deeply honoured to welcome MP Pat McFadden and his team to our Chatty Café Morning, held in recognition of both Black History Month and World Mental Health Day.

The event, held at our Hub in Bilston, brought together residents, volunteers and community partners for an open and uplifting morning of conversation, reflection and connection. The Chatty Café initiative forms part of WWBH’s wider commitment to tackling loneliness, encouraging dialogue around mental health, and celebrating the rich cultural diversity of Wolverhampton.

During his visit, MP Pat McFadden took time to engage personally with attendees, listening to stories, ideas and lived experiences from members of our local community. Conversations highlighted the importance of mental health awareness — particularly within Black and minority ethnic communities — and the need for accessible wellbeing services that are culturally competent.

As part of Black History Month, the event also paid tribute to the contributions of Black people throughout history and within Wolverhampton today — recognising the resilience, creativity and leadership that continue to shape our shared future.

Looking Ahead During the visit, MP McFadden shared his support for collaborative approaches to community wellbeing — and we at WWBH are inspired to build on this positive engagement.

We believe there is so much more to discuss, plan and implement: from raising awareness and promoting inclusion, to taking concrete action to support our communities.

Together residents, partners, local government, voluntary sector and MP’s team can work towards greater change, stronger networks and improved wellbeing outcomes for all in Wolverhampton. The morning finished with light refreshments, laughter and meaningful exchanges a true celebration of connection, compassion and community pride.

At Wolverhampton Wellbeing Hub, we remain committed to these important conversations. One conversation, one connection, one act of kindness at a time.
